2018 RAMBLINGS

April 27th, 2018

Hey everyone. After a slight sabbatical, Plightsite is once again back in business!
You might have noticed things are looking a little different. For starters, logging in here automatically brought to this page rather than the 'header' which had been a staple of this website for over 18 years. Back in 2001, Tony and I created that to help us build up the click counter and give the site a little more prestige. However, the page was always an unnecessary component so in the spirit of modernizing and streamline things, I've removed it. And that's just the beginning.
A lot needs to be done to get this website back up to date. Pages need to be completed, broken links require fixing, and in some cases, material needs to be revised. There is so many things I've neglected over the years that it's my hope by the time 2018 ends, not only will this site be a fully working comprehensive area with everything I've worked on, but everything Tony has as well.
But enough with what's coming in the future. Let's discuss today.
With the summer season fast approaching, I've decided to do another round of the "Blockbuster Gallery". However, I'm going to handle things differently this year. In the past Tony and I set a goal of churning out weekly entries so when a new movie came out that Friday, we'd have a homage already done up. But last summer showed me I don't have enough time in my schedule to make that a reality. So instead I've only picked a handful of films to cover; the movies I have a great interest in. Some will debut back to back weeks to synch up with their release in the theaters. Others will appear weeks apart from each other. But when all is said and done, there will be 7 new entries in the gallery.
And we kick things off with "Avengers: Infinity War"; the third Avengers film and the culmination of 10 years and 19 films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. To say it's the most highly anticipated film of the year would be an understatement. So click on the link and see what I came up with to homage it. And while you're also there, be sure to give me your feedback on the new page banner.
That's all for now but I'll be back in a few weeks when I tackle "Deadpool 2" and unveil even more new revisions. So until then! - Jake

Welcome back! I hope everyone is having a great summer so far. Over here in Minnesota, life is kind of gloomy. We're in the midst of a long stretch of cloudy weather intermittent with the occasional severe thunderstorm. The meteorologists are promising the sun will be making an appearance sometime tomorrow, but I'm not so sure. You don't need someone's grandmother to tell you her knees are predicting rain by just taking a glance outside. Minnesota is going to be dumped on again.
But this isn't Weatherchannel.com; this is an art site hoping to bring a little sunlight into people's lives. And we're doing that today by debuting my homage on "Deadpool 2" starring Ryan Reynolds, Josh Brolin, Zazie Beetz, and Brad Pitt (no, seriously, he's in the movie.) As with other Marvel properties, I don't directly address the Merc with a Mouth but rather Hollywood's failed attempts at duplicating Marvel's cinematic universe. But I go more in-depth about that in the rambling for the picture itself.
I'll be back next week when I tackle the next spin-off installment from the Star Wars Franchise with "Solo: A Star Wars Tale". Will I do justice to one of Tony's favorite properties? Yes and no. You'll just have to return in seven days to find out what I mean by that. Until then, hope you stay dry out there! - Jake
