"American Noodie"
Valentine's Day 2007
I know, I know... I didn't do a good job rendering Eric in a sea of rose peddles. It looks like he's standing up when what he should be doing is laying down ala the dream sequence in "American Beauty". I mean, it's suppose to be a direct homage to that sequence!
Regardless, there's two really good reasons why I like this picture.
After years of giving a lot of people some enjoyment by drawing Kari in skimpy clothing and large mammaries, this was my chance to make it up to the other half, the female viewers to this website, so to speak. So just as I've decided not to hold back in the past with those Kari pictures, I did the same here. Oh, I'm sure to hear a few complaints about this, but it's okay. Those complaining aren't the people I drew this picture for. And knowing right away there's a few women who are going to love it - well, that makes it all the more worthwhile.
The other reason why this turned out a success for me is that waaaay back when the Summer Blockbuster Gallery was still in the planning stages, I was asked by one of my former co-workers to draw Eric exactly in this scene. Problem was "American Beauty" wasn't a summer flick and falling rose peddles (even seven years later) were difficult to illustrate. But since it was her favorite movie and she was going to produce Plight t-shirts for pre-teen adolencent girls (that's a story for another time), I was going to do it any way. Unfortunately she came down with some personal troubles and wound up leaving her job before I could. I doubt she's ever going to read this, but this picture is dedicated to her. With any luck, she's living her dream. - Jake
