"Some Days" ("Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice")

If this piece had a sub-title, it would appropriately be called "What Spending A Year Laying on the Couch like Brad Pitt in 'True Romance' Looks Like".
While I had plenty of time of work on my art throughout 2015, I just didn't have the energy. Whether it was being exhausted after putting long shifts in at the hospital or my interests had waned, I always put off illustrating for a later date. All I wanted to do when the opportunity presented itself was lay down and recuperate. Watch a movie or turn on the PlayStation. Anything but draw.
"Batman V. Superman" was the perfect film for me to get back into the groove. Although it was the kind of big blockbuster event with a star-studded cast and mind-blowing special effects you'd expect to debut in the middle of summer, the movie was released at the end of March. But realizing I sorely needed to re-exercise my drawing muscles, and after being encouraged from some friends on Facebook to cover it, I dove into my homage depicting the Man of Steel clashing with the Dark Knight for the first time on the cinematic screen with a renewed sense of vigor.
If there's any faults in this piece (such as going overboard with the photoshop effects), they are absolved solely for the fact I didn't resort to making light of the iconic "I'm going to stop killing Superman and instantly become his friend because both of our mothers share the same name" scene. That would have been way too easy. - Jake
