"The Mother Load"
Halloween 2010
This picture was drawn just when I was coming back from illustrating after a long couple of months. My job assignment at the hospital had taken a lot of energy out of me and by the time I got home every night, I was barely able to stand. So once I started getting back into the swing of things and found the passion to illustrate again, I wanted to make it up to all the folks who continued checking in looking for updates. And considering the time of year, doing a Halloween pic was a no-brainer; especially when it had been six years since my last one!
As you can probably tell, I was still a little rusty. Certain parts had to be redone (a leg here, an arm there) and there was a ton of photoshopping to be had. Originally Erik and Kari were going to be surrounded by other members of the cast but I couldn't get the perspective right. And as much work I spent drawing the wrappers to various candy bars, they didn't come out better than the real things (although I did enjoy eating the 'references'). So on October 30th at 8:35 PM I decided to just go with what was clicking and not look back.
It's not a bad picture; just not my best. - Jake
