"Kill Erik" ("Kill Bill: Volume 1")
Although neither of us made an actual list, it's safe to assume Quentin Tarantino's two-part "Kill Bill" saga would have been prominent in our Top 10 films of 2004. On the surface it was a slick, bloody, action-packed, anime-flavored, kung-fu flick. But as the story progressed, it slowly morphed into a tale of a vulnerable woman looking for redemption and happiness.
After watching the first half in the theater in November, neither of us could wait for the conclusion the following summer. Turns out, we didn't have to. Three weeks after dominating the box office, Miramax decided to move up the release date of "Volume 2" to the middle of April. But by then the damage was already done. Tony and I had begun work on the gallery for the following year and our homage to "Volume 2" was one of the illustrations we had managed to complete ahead of time. Thus, we had our second "Deleted Scene". - Jake
